We meant to post this piece yesterday, on Thanksgiving. But somebody here at the office broke out six cans of tuna and a 12-once bag of catnip. And, well … let’s just say things went downhill from there.
So here it is a day late, our list of things in life for which we are most thankful:

Dexter, Editor-in-Chief
I’m thankful for the hardworking staff here at Kitty Spotlight. A couple of months ago, I was just a cat with big dreams about a cool website for kitties. Now, thanks to the group I work with, that dream is becoming a reality.

Buzz, Graphic Designer
I’m thankful for the new iMac I got as a perk for working here at Kitty Spotlight. That thing is sweeeeet! Oh, and I guess I’m thankful for my coworkers and stuff … sometimes even Peaches, who is more of a fixture than a coworker, really. But I guess she’s pretty cool in her own kitty way.

Sassy, Public Relations
I’m thankful for being part of a website that showcases so many cute cats. I’m also thankful for the fact that none of them are as cute as yours truly! I don’t say that to be conceited or anything. It’s just something I’m thankful for, and Dexter told us to honest on this questionnaire.

Peaches, Cute Kitty
I like chicken and tuna … and when people scratch me behind the ears. That’s about it.

Here’s the final cat picture in our Tosca + Tony series.

No, you are not seeing double. Look closely and you will notice that Tosca (background) has more spots and stripes than Tony, along with a white chest. And though they look like siblings, these two kitties are not related.
Tosca came from a Humane Society shelter, and Tony (foreground) came from the “tough streets” of Austin, Texas. He was rescued from underneath a car on a rainy night … just a scared, skinny and hungry kitten with nowhere to go. Here’s to second chances, Tony!
Now the two cats are as close as any true siblings, despite the occasional stealing of food … and we’re not saying any names here, Tony.
The stealing food bit reminds us of Peaches. She used to be a stray kitten (we think), and as a result of that she hordes food like it’s going to run out tomorrow. She will steal a piece of fish right out of your paw and look at you like it was hers to begin with!

Here’s a picture of a sweet kitty named Tosca — sweet, but without all the calories of regular sugar. This picture of “Tosca Bean” was sent in by Lisa from Texas, who also sent the previous picture of Tony. In fact, Tony is Tosca’s “brother from another mother.”

Tosca is a kitty with a taste for the finer things in life. As you can see, she enjoys a good box bed once in a while, and she is also quite fond of shopping bag blankets.

Lisa from Austin, Texas sends in this picture of Tony, also known as “yoga kitty” (obvious reasons).

This pictures shows Tony performing his daily yoga routine, which is excellent for strength, flexibility, circulation and overall health. We believe this is the half spinal twist position.
Not surprisingly, the one yoga position that Tony absolutely refuses to do is the downward-facing dog. We hear ya, Tony. In fact, your refusal to do that position is in keeping with our “no dogs allowed” policy here at Kitty Spotlight.

Here is a cute kitten picture of Taj, boldly venturing into the world … er, make that the bowl.

According to Taj’s owner: “Taj showed up on my door step at 4 weeks old. A few days on the bottle and is now 5 years old.”
Editor’s note: Like Taj, Peaches the kitten showed up on our doorstep one day too. She has been a part of the Kitty Spotlight staff ever since. She doesn’t do much in the way of work, but we are still happy to have her.
Sometimes the greatest gifts are the ones that show up on your doorstep.

Here is a picture of Blaze sent in by his owner.

According to Blaze’s owner: “Blaze is 1 of 4 rescued from a feral litter. He’s been bottle raised. He’s 5 weeks old in this picture and already knows he’s ready for the romantic lead, but his kissing leaves something to be desired, scabs…”
Editor’s note: I too was a feral cat at one point. But like Blaze, I was rescued by a true cat lover. And now look at me … I’m the editor-in-chief of a popular website! ~Dexter

Here is a picture of Milkshake, who in this moment was feeling like a behind-the-curtain kitty. We all have those days when we want to stay behind the curtain, do we not?

According to Milkshake’s owner: “Milkshake was a stray cat that followed my son home. We let him in the house and he acted as if he’s been here all along. He has been here ever since. He’s a mischievous boy but he’s a complete lover as well. He loves everyone. We’re happy that he chose us.”
From the looks of it, Milkshake is happy with his choice too!

Here’s a picture sent to us from Tracey in California, who is the proud owner of Gracie the cat (pictured below).

Gracie is a fashionable kitty any time of year, as the picture above indicates. You could pop in unannounced at 9:00 a.m. on a Sunday, and she would still be looking cat-tastic. In this photo, Gracie is sporting the latest in feline headwear from the famous designer Kitty de la Renta.
Looking great, Gracie!

Here’s a classic shot of Stella the Siamese cat, doing what she does best.

Just in time for fall, Stella is sporting the latest in Siamese colors. She is comfortably dressed for success — or for napping, whichever comes first. Stella was picked up from an animal shelter. She was purring so loudly, her current owners (then strangers) simply could not pass her by.

This is a photo of the gone-but-not-forgotten cat named Sebastian. He enjoyed 16 happy years on this earth before leaving us.

In this photo, Sebastian was soaking up some sun with his buddy Tucker, a panther chameleon. This photo is indicative of the kind of cat Sebastian was — a lover of all creatures great and small. While most cats would pounce on a harmless little lizard, Sebastian chose to be friends.
Rest in peace sweet kitty. We miss you.
